Another Rover makes his AFL debut

Jayden Hunt made his AFL debut on Sunday in Melbourne’s 35-point win over Collingwood at the MCG.

Jayden was picked up in the 2013 AFL Draft with fellow Hampton Rovers players Christian Salem (Melbourne) and Karl Amon (Port Adelaide). He’s one of four ex-Rovers on the Melbourne list with Chris Dawes and Angus Brayshaw also with the Dees.

The Rovers have eight former players on AFL lists and all have now made their debut.

Jayden played the majority of his junior footy with East Sandringham before playing at the Rovers with the U16s in 2011. From there he moved onto the Sandringham Dragons and was picked at number 57 in the Draft.

He had a solid debut in Melbourne’s win over the Pies, collecting 13 disposals with seven kicks and six marks while taking five marks.

“It means heaps. It’s been pretty hard the past two years, missing heaps of games. It’s a credit to all of the fitness staff and the physios for getting me on the track, so I’m finally here.” Jayden said prior to his first game.
