Rovers open season at home this Saturday against Kew

The 2018 VAFA season gets underway this Saturday with four home games including the Seniors hosting Kew at Boss James Reserve. Book your spot now for the first Home Game Luncheon of the year.

The Rovers had two solid and largely impressive practice matches against Doveton and Mordialloc and with the Easter long weekend done with, are now ready to hit the ground running in the season proper.

The Seniors face Kew who were also relegated from Premier C section last year and the Rovers will be keen to have a similar result to round one 2017 which was a big win to the green & gold against the same opponent.

We encourage all supporters to get along to Boss James Reserve and cheer on the boys. The Seniors commence at 2:00pm with the Reserves at 11:40am.

It’s also the first Home Game Luncheon of the year and as of Thursday morning there are already 50 people confirmed and we expect this to grow by Saturday. We encourage all parents and supporters to book a spot and enjoy the full Rovers home game hospitality. Just $30 per head with drinks available to bar prices. 12 midday for a 12:30pm sit-down. You can easily reserve your spot online (click here) and you can also now pre-pay online via the Rovers Shop (click here).

The club also encourages supporters to support the club and purchase a 2018 club membership, which includes entry to the Luncheon. Click here for full details and to purchase online now.

Also on Saturday, the Thirds coached by Andrew McGregor open their season against Swinburn University at St James Park commencing at 9:20am and the Under 19s under new coach Lou Folino start their campaign against Marcellin at Castlefield Reserve (Ludstone Street) at 2:00pm.

The Senior Women’s team take on Old Haileybury, with the home game moved to Trevor Barker Oval to be played as a curtain-raiser to the Sandringham Zebras v Footscray Bulldogs VFL round one match, starting at 11:30am.

Keep up to date with everything throughout the day by following the Rovers on social media including Twitter (@HRAFC) and Instagram (hamptonrovers). Live scores of senior matches are also available via the Rovers website.

Following all the action on Saturday, we welcome everyone back to Boss James Reserve where the bar will be open from approximately 4:30pm with match awards at 5:30pm.

We also welcome everyone to the club Thursday evening for Senior Training and Round One Selection Night. From 6pm – bar open, dinner, hear the teams.
