Quon Returns to Coach Reserves

Just as the 2015 pre-season recommences, the Hampton Rovers are elated to announce former player and premiership winning Under 19 Coach, Anthony Quon as Reserves Coach for 2015.

It is a return to the Rovers for Quon, who has spent the last three seasons as Senior Coach of the South Melbourne Districts Football Club, also competing in the VAFA.

Quon played 171 games for the Rovers from 1996 onwards. He also captained the Reserves to the 2004 premiership and was named VAFA U19 Coach of the Year in the premiership year of 2009.

The Rovers set out to secure Quon during the off-season. With work and study obligations, he was unable to commit to the role prior to Christmas, however he was actively involved with the running of pre-season sessions before the break.

A number of Quon’s 2008 U19 premiership players were part of the recent senior back-to-back premiership teams.

“I am wrapt to be back at the Rovers. It is the club where I learnt my football from a junior through to seniors, and to come back and coach is something which really excites me.”

“I gained a lot of experience in my three seasons at South Melbourne Districts. I am looking forward to carrying that on with the Rovers.”

Pre-season training is held every Monday and Wednesday, meeting at Boss James Reserve at 6pm. Further information can be found here >
