Today we mourn the loss of a true gentleman. Denis Pilkingtons brave & dignified battle with pancreatic cancer finally ended yesterday after many months of defying the odds. Denis had been a fine acquisition to Hampton Rovers AFC. Initially coming down as a supporter of the Club XVIII team, Denis quickly offered his services as a goal umpire before making the transition to Team Manager. He would often attend training sessions and assist with the Clubbies going well beyond the call of duty. For some time without a coach leading in to 2011, Denis went and got his coaching accreditation such was his enthusiasm and passion for the Club XVIII team. Unfortunately, this terrible illness struck him early last year and whilst given a short sentence, Denis still maintained his support of the Clubbies attending games when his health permitted. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends in this difficult time.
The funeral for Denis Pilkington will be held 10am on Tuesday, April 17th at WD Rose Chapel, 221 Charman Road, Cheltenham.
