Vale Peter Rogerson

It is with a heavy heart that the Hampton Rovers Football Club announces the passing of Life Member Peter Rogerson.

Peter passed away during the evening of April 27th following complications from heart surgery at the Victorian Heart Hospital, which overlooks Frearson Oval at Monash University, where ironically the Rovers Reserves and Seniors both recorded resounding victories there on the day (pictured below) … fitting results to acknowledge the wonderful contribution Peter has given to our great club.

Peter played 145 games between 1978 and 1991, was assistant coach of our Under 19s for many seasons and a tireless worker behind the bar on Thursday’s and Saturday’s and of late our club maintenance man and chef for Thursday night steak dinners.

Peter was awarded Life Membership of the Club in 2017 and along with his brother’s David and Ian, amassed a combined total of 642 games for the Rovers…an incredible achievement. All three are Green and Gold through and through.

Club President Gary Nash said Peter epitomised the true spirit of the Hampton Rovers, determined, committed, loyal, hard working and passionate.

“He was all in … an inaugural member of the Roverians, lifelong club member and passionate supporter for 46 years.”

“We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Jane, daughter Kirsty, son in law Brad and grandchildren Henry, Lucy and Emma, brothers David and Ian and the extended family.”

The Funeral Service for Peter Rogerson will be held on Wednesday 8th May from 2.30pm at Bunurong Memorial Park – Stratus Reflection Space. Feel free to wear a dash of Rovers or Bombers colours. The service will also be streamed online.

RIP Peter
