Toouli travels to NZ with the VAFA

Young Hampton Rovers premiership player Jack Toouli is travelling to New Zealand with the VAFA U18 representative side, coached by Rovers assistant Owen Lalor.

Jack, a long-time Rovers junior, starred for Brighton Grammar in their APS premiership this year before winning a senior VAFA premiership in the Rovers’ big win over Parkdale Vultures. He played six senior games for the club in 2014, kicking nine goals and featuring in the best players on three occasions.

The squad left in the early hours of Friday morning to travel to Auckland for the 6th annual clash between the VAFA and AFL NZ’s Under 18 teams.  The VAFA have never lost to AFL NZ winning all 10 matches to date against the Kiwis.

The team is coached by Hampton Rovers assistant coach Owen Lalor. He spoke to VAFA TV ahead of the final training session (watch the interview) and said despite the footy season being over, this trip still held great excitement for the players and coaching team.

The VAFA’s first match is on Saturday at 2pm against AFL New Zealand’s U18 side at Parrs Park in Auckland. The team will have a recovery day on the Sunday before they play game two on Monday at 11am at Parrs Park. The team will then fly home Monday night.
