Hampton Rovers players Ryan Semmel and Chris Gleeson have been rewarded for their good form by being selected in the VAFA U23 squad to take on Tasmania on July 18.
Ryan Semmel, who was appointed co-captain in 2010, has been a consistent performer in the Rovers midfield since returning to the club in 2008.
Chris Gleeson returned to the Rovers in 2009 and has stepped up to a new level this year with some outstanding performances resulting in 20 goals so far this season.
The initial 35-man squad will be trimmed in the lead-up to the game which will be played at Ulverstone on July 18.
Coach Mick Dwyer had the following to say: Although we played some excellent football last year against WA, unfortunately we just fell short. We are very keen to atone in 2010 against Tassie. This is a great opportunity for the U23s to be considered for selection in the Australian Amateur team to play in South Africa later in the year. There is a lot to play for!
