VAFA take on EFL for Bushfire Appeal

Arguably two of Metropolitan Melbourne’s strongest football competitions will clash in a never before seen interleague match to raise funds for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

The dream match between two of Victoria’s biggest football competitions will finally become a reality Sunday March 29 when the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) and Eastern Football League (EFL) lock horns in an all star interleague match. It is a rivalry that has never been tested, as the leagues unite to raise money for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

Former Hawthorn players Dean Anderson (VAFA) and Daniel Harford (EFL) will coach their respective sides in the clash of leagues which will see the cream of talent from both competitions on show. The EFL will unleash their SEN Division One Team of the Year onto the park – the first time ever the team of the year will be assembled for a competitive game – whilst the VAFA will put their faith in their representative side that successfully defeated AFL Sydney last year in their midyear interleague match.

The big game will be played at Jubilee Oval in Ringwood, with a huge crowd of EFL, VAFA and local football followers expected to flock to see the battle between these two strong local metropolitan football competitions, with all funds raised on the day going to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
