VAFA outlast SFL to win 3rd St Kilda Community Cup

The VAFA retained the St. Kilda Community Cup last night at Moorabbin Oval in the closest contest between the two proud footballing bodies.

In slippery conditions the VAFA began the better to take the initiative in the first half, and held a significant lead, in the conditions, at the main break.

The young SFL team clawed their way back into the game and took the lead in the third quarter setting up an epic last quarter.

The last was a dour struggle with only one goal scored by the VAFA to seal the game mid way through the grueling last quarter.

The VAFA won the contest, but grass roots community football was the winner overall.
