With Easter falling on the weekend of April 9 (Good Friday), April 10 and April 11 in 2004, the Executive Committee has decided to commence the season on Saturday April 17th.
On the weekend of round 8 the VAFA will play against the WA representative team (in Melbourne) as part of the third year of the AAFC Championships. The make-up of this team is yet to be decided although no more than one player will be taken from any one club, with it being possible that the VAFA team may be a youth development team. This is still to be decided.
There will be no VAFA football over the Queens Birthday weekend, except for the representative match against the Southern Football League on the Friday night of the Queens Birthday weekend.
There will then be a bye for A and B section clubs on the weekend of July 3/4 when the senior VAFA team will play the SA Amateurs (in Melbourne) in the final match of the three year AAFC Championships. On this weekend all other sections will play round 11.
There will be a three week finals series for all sections this year with the grand finals for C, D and Under 19 sections on September 11th and the A and B section grand finals to be played on the weekend of 18/19 September.
