Rovers look to continue run against Brunswick at the Boss

Unbeaten Hampton Rovers host Brunswick on Saturday at Boss James Reserve in a big day for the club being the annual ANZAC Match.

The two clubs have not met since 2006, when they were known as North Old Boys. Coming into the round four clash, the Rovers sit on top of the ladder with a percentage of 324%, fresh off a 145-point win over Ivanhoe, while Brunswick are currently without a win.

The Rovers side has three forced changes but great to see three quality in’s with Oscar Roberts and Ned Fallon returning to the side and Jessie Donald in for his first game of the year.

Prior to the start of the match at approximately 1:50pm, an ANZAC commemorative service will be held on the ground to allow Hampton Rovers supporters to pay their respects to the ANZAC’s. The Luncheon is looking like being a big one and final bookings are now being taken – see below for details.

The Reserves are also undefeated and they’ll be looking to have four wins on the trot for the first time in 10 years when they face Brunswick at 11:40am. Another good side in so get along early and cheer the boys on.

The Thirds are away against North Brunswick, starting at 9:20am at Allard Park and the Under 19s face up against Old Mentonians at the Keysborough Playing Fields at 2pm. The Women have a bye this weekend.

Congratulations to Josh Pavlou who will run out in the Seniors for his 200th club game on Saturday. Josh first played for the Rovers in 2002, racking up 107 junior games and 92 senior games. Pav has become a valuable player and consistent performer, finishing fifth in the B&F last year and now a regular starter in the one’s.

Saturday’s Home Game Luncheon will be tribute to the ANZAC’s and no doubt we’ll hear a few stories from yesteryear. As of Friday morning there are already 85+ people booked in, meaning we’re heading towards a bumper attendance. Please reserve your spot by Friday afternoon to ensure you don’t miss out.
