I would like to wish our Rovers community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Enjoy the break, travel safely and importantly, have a wonderful time with your families.
2021 was again disappointing with lockdowns and a shortened season, however we did get on the park and witnessed some exciting football which will give us optimism and encouragement leading into 2022.
The support we received from our sponsors and members was extraordinary. We are very fortunate to have such great backing.
I am delighted to announce our Senior Women’s captain Bianca Lenarcic has joined the committee as our Player Development & Wellbeing Coordinator. This is a role which every club has a responsibility to provide, and Bianca has volunteered to manage for us.
Bianca brings a wealth of knowledge and exposure to the cause:
Health, Sport, Exercise Science teacher
Completed a Master of Education
Mindfulness leader, completed Mindfulness teacher training course
Mindfulness for Wellbeing and Peak performance
Yoga teacher
Mental Health first aid
Developed resources for Athlete Performance education
Enrolled in Level 2 AFL coaching course
Here’s my wish list for 2022:
1. We need some more sports trainers, please spread the word – it is a paid position and if someone is interested and is inexperienced, then we will train you. Rebecca Hurley manages our team and is a Physio and we have great support from Sarah Golding from Bayside Sports Medicine Group in Sandringham.
2. A full season of footy, and if that happens you will be invited to 10 home game lunches in 2022, a 22 week home and away season with 2 byes … no I am not making it up!! The fixture has just been released and you can view it here.
3. Good health to everyone and let’s hope the Rovers have a very busy September and Dean Lovig has many more premiership flags to hang from our ceiling.
Go Rovers!
