The Hampton Rovers Football Club is excited to announce the appointment of Sean Brady as Senior Women’s Coach for the 2027 season, bringing a wealth of experience across junior, senior and state-level women’s football.
Sean is a familiar face at the Rovers, having previously spent five years coaching junior girls teams at the club between 2019 and 2023, across age groups ranging from Under 10s to Under 15s. He also served as the club’s Junior Girls Coordinator from 2021 to 2023, playing an important role in the development of our girls football program.
Beyond the Rovers, Sean has built an impressive coaching resume, including three years as a development coach with the St Kilda Next Generation Academy from 2019 to 2021, working with Under 13, Under 15 and Under 16 girls.
He also spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Saints VFLW program in 2020 and 2021, before taking on the Senior Women’s Head Coach role at Old Haileybury in VAFA Division 1 for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Sean also has strong family connections to the Hampton Rovers, with his daughters Georgia and Tess both having played many years of junior football in the green and gold.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to the Rovers family as Senior Women’s Coach. I have a huge passion for women’s and girls’ football and have always loved being involved as a coach across various levels of the game,” Sean said following his appointment.
“I’m excited to meet the playing group, hear what they’d like to achieve in 2027 and beyond, and work together towards achieving those goals.”
He replaces Brent Ward, who did a terrific job coaching the Senior Women for the past five seasons, including leading the team to its inaugural premiership in 2022.
The appointment represents an important step forward for the Rovers’ women’s football program, with the club committed to strengthening its senior team while continuing to develop opportunities for female footballers at every level.
The club offers a pathway from Auskick through junior girls football in the SMJFL and into senior women’s football in the VAFA, with opportunities for talented players to progress into elite pathways via the Sandringham Dragons.
The 2027 season will also mark the 10th anniversary of women’s football in the VAFA, a significant milestone for the competition and the Rovers. The club proudly hosted the first-ever VAFA women’s match in 2017 and remains committed to building on that pioneering involvement.
Incoming Hampton Rovers President Cameron Voss welcomed Sean’s appointment.
“Sean brings an outstanding combination of coaching experience, football knowledge and a genuine connection to the Hampton Rovers. Having previously been involved with our junior girls program, he understands the club and the importance of providing a strong pathway for our female players.
“We’re committed to growing women’s football at the Rovers, and we believe Sean is the ideal person to lead our Senior Women into this next chapter. We’re really excited about what we can achieve together in 2027 and beyond.”
A Meet the Coach Night will be held shortly to introduce Sean to the playing group and discuss plans for the upcoming season. All current and prospective players are invited to attend, with further details to be announced.
