Club

From the President – May 19

Hello to the Hampton Rovers community, I hope you are keeping well.

Whilst we are all still waiting patiently for our season to kickstart, there has been plenty happening around the club.

Firstly, an update on training, ground and pavilion use.
As per every club in Bayside, we currently have no tenancy rights of Boss James Reserve and Castlefield Reserve at present and therefore cannot access the pavilions or ground lighting. This is expected to remain the case until at least the end of May. We are hopeful of further updates from the council in the near future.

Following Victorian Government advice around the return of community sport this week, AFL Victoria will release its return to train protocols in the coming days and is endorsing a return to club sanctioned training from Monday, May 25. In the meantime, there continues to be no club-endorsed training. View the full memo here.

For a return to organised training and pavilion access, the club requires a COVID-19 officer and we are asking for a volunteer(s) to undertake this role and assist the committee. Without this position being filled, we cannot operate. If you can assist, please put your hand up – contact me on gary.nash@hamptonrovers.com.au or 0407 313 054.

As I said, there has still been plenty happening around the club…

ROVERLAND PODCAST – We’ve launched our first club podcast. Hosted by Josh Pavlou and James Prosser, the boys interview club captain Christian Carnovale in episode one and coach Anthony Quon in episode two which will be available later this week. You can listen to it on our website or on Apple, Spotify etc. Great initiative from all involved – WELL DONE!

TUESDAY NIGHT LIVE – This has been great viewing and we’re in for a treat tonight with the 2001 Grand Final win over Old Essendon and chat with a few of the stars prior to the game. Tune in from 7pm on our website or Facebook.

THURSDAY NIGHT RAFFLE – the support has been fantastic, so much so, that we’ve increased the prize pool. We’ve now got 1.5Kg of porterhouse thanks to long-time sponsor Ausfine as first prize, a slab and wine. You can buy raffle tickets on the Rovers Shop (before 7pm Thursday) and watch the live draw on the special Facebook group at 8pm – hosted by a different senior player each week.

SALVATION ARMY RED SHIELD APPEAL
We have been fantastic supporters over two decades, door-knocking and tin-rattling throughout Hampton – we cannot do that this year, so we are going digital!

Join the Hampton Rovers Digital Doorknock for the Salvos in 2020. Please donate what you can and spread the word to family, friends and the broader community to go on to our online donation page and support this amazing organisation. DONATE HERE or follow the link via the Rovers Shop.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP – Thanks to the 32 club members who’ve signed up for 2020 with Sue Anderson the most recent member to renew. We appreciate your support!

Take care and keep safe, footy is just around the corner!

Regards,
Gary Nash
