The Under 19s are continuing to be the bright spot each weekend. Early on, the Rovers were sitting on 1.8 to 2 goals straight! Then they switched on and Marcellin were not really in the game. 26 scoring shots to 9 tells the story of the day.
The young Rovers controlled the game most of the time winning a fair share of the contested footy. Unfortunately kicking 17 behinds for the day kept Marcellin in the game. The backline was as solid as ever lead by the 2 stalwarts in Matty Oswald and Cam Cullis and ably supported by Sam Gall, Liam Mouat, Liam Mc Cartney and one of the young U17s in Steven Raymer.
Sean Bourke controlled the ruck again in only his second game and due to his efforts the other mids in Scotty Ebbot, Ben Kneebush and Cam Hethrington had plenty of the footy. Daniel Terjung was again dangerous both up forward and when on the ball in only his third game for the Club.
The win against third-placed Marcellin now puts the Rovers in 4th position with three wins and two losses. A great effort by the boys, considering the number of U19 boys playing up in the Seniors this year.
This week’s game will be a big test against the undefeated Williamstown CYMS. Due to scheduling difficulties, this Rovers home game is being played at Brighton Beach Oval, home of Old Brighton, commencing at 11am.
