Under 19s give Rovers some hope

Hampton Rovers have something to shout about. Their Under 19s, who play in the VAFA south section, had an upset win on Saturday.

They travelled to St Bedes/Mentone’s strong hold at Brindisi St to record a one-goal victory.
It was their and the (senior) club’s second win for the season.

The other two sides, the seniors and reserves, are without wins.

The Tigers retained their fourth place with siz wins, half-a-win ahead of St Mary’s Salesian.

The Rovers were boosted by Sandringham Dragons Luke Verma and Jack Wilson.

Seniors players Jay Dillon, Matthew Care and Campbell Jones dropped back with the Premier senior sections having a bye. William Brayshaw was available from Haileybury College. The return of school football will impact the senior team this week.

It hosts eighth-placed Rupertswood at Boss James Reserve. Eight changes are expected from the side that pushed Marcellin. The U19s will kick-off proceedings at 9:20am and the day will also feature a Breast Cancer lunch commencing at 12 midday.
