This Saturday’s Hampton Rovers Home Game Luncheon will celebrate some of the proudest moments in the club’s history, with the reunion of the 2001 senior premiership team, while also recognising the 1951 and 1946 flags.
Held at the Wright-Scarlett Pavilion at Boss James Reserve, the luncheon will commence from 12pm for a 12:30pm start ahead of the senior men’s Round 6 clash against Marcellin at 2pm. The bar will remain open throughout the day.
A highlight of the afternoon will be the celebration of the 2001 VAFA C Grade Premiership side, which defeated Old Essendon by 65 points at Elsternwick Park to cap off one of the great eras in Hampton Rovers history.
The Rovers kicked away in the second half to secure a dominant 16.14 (110) to 6.9 (45) victory, with Michael Fletcher awarded best on ground in a team featuring club greats including Stephen Anderson, Anthony Browne, Denver Artz, Gerrard Woods, Dean Busby and Chris Scarlett.
The 2001 senior premiership marked the club’s third senior flag in seven years following the 1995 and 1998 successes. Read more about the premiership success and watch the replay here >
