The Hampton Rovers Football Club is once again participating in the TAC Road Safety Round in conjunction with AFL Victoria and the VAFA this weekend, with all teams back in action following the two-week representative footy bye.
The campaign aims to reduce road fatalities and increase awareness about safe driving habits is in its sixth year in 2024. The focus of this year’s campaign is reducing speed on the roads and arriving safely at Community football with the tag line “Show up for your team, slow down on the road”.
Players across all five senior teams will wear blue “Band together” armbands to raise awareness, while promotional assets have been placed around the club and social media. Members of the police force will also be in attendance at senior selection night on Thursday 25th July to talk to the playing group.

In 2024, 155 people have been tragically killed on Victorian roads, with 72 deaths on metropolitan roads and 83 on regional roads. Some notable trends in 2024 include 15 lives already lost in July and 33 since the beginning of winter, with pedestrian fatalities in 2024 increasing by 10 and motorbike rider lives lost increasing by 18.
All five senior teams are back in action this weekend following the VAFA rep footy double bye, with a massive game for the Seniors, against top side Old Carey away at Bulleen. The Senior Women are away to Hawthorn, while at Boss James Reserve, the Thirds take on De La Salle at 9:20am, followed by the U19s v Old Xaverians at 11:40am.
