I apologise that this update comes four weeks after the VAFA officially cancelled the remainder of the 2021 season and finals series, however we’ve been waiting on two key decisions to be made to close out the season and we can now communicate these following Monday’s VAFA board meeting:
- The VAFA will award ‘Minor Premiership’ cups to the teams that occupied first position on the ladder in each section at the conclusion of the home and away season.
- The VAFA will not apply automatic promotion/relegation for men’s competitions and women’s premier competitions when determining section structures for the 2022 season. In lieu of this, clubs can apply to be promoted/relegated. You can read more on the VAFA website here.
Congratulations to our three teams that qualified for the finals: Senior Women & Men’s Thirds who will both be presented with Minor Premiership cups, and to our under 19s who finished second on the ladder.
I am pleased to advise that we have re-appointed senior coach Anthony Quon, thirds coach Andrew McGregor, and under 19s coach Zac Pirrie for the 2022 season.
Both Sam Clements (Reserves) and Corey Randall (Senior Women) have decided to step down from their coaching roles and we thank both of them for their outstanding work. We are excited that Sam wants to pull the boots back on again and contribute on the field next year, while Corey hopes to remain involved in a reduced capacity with the women’s team.
The club is now advertising for the roles of Reserves Coach and Senior Women’s Coach for the 2022 season.
Regarding Senior Presentation Night, our intention is to hold off until we can catch up in-person, even if that’s next year, however we do intend to celebrate and reward season 2021. We are now working towards holding vote counts for all five senior teams virtually in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for details.
