1998 Premiership 20-Year Reunion

Hampton Rovers Football Club will celebrate the 20-year reunion of the 1998 Premiership at this Saturday’s senior home game. Book now for the Luncheon!

It was undoubtedly one of the club’s most famous victories, defeating local rivals Beaumaris Sharks 11.9 (75) to 10.9 (69) at Elsternwick Park after going into the game as rank outsiders.

That year, the coach was Russell Barnes, captain Matt McKellar and Anthony Browne won the best & fairest.

This Saturday, the Rovers host Ivanhoe at Boss James Reserve and both the Seniors and Reserves sit on top of the ladder heading into the round 11 clash.

The formal part of the day will be Luncheon, commencing at 12 midday and we welcome everyone along to help celebrate this milestone with the 1998 premiership-winning team. The Seniors match commences at 2pm and following the game at 4:30pm, the bar will re-open. The cost of the lunch is just $30 per head, or if you’re not a club member already, you may choose to purchase one which includes entry to the event – starting at just $50 for a bronze membership – click here for details. You can pre-purchase your lunch ticket or pay on the day, in which case you must RSVP online here.
