McNeil to lead Rovers U17s in 2016

It is with great excitement that we announce our Under 17s team will be coached by Rovers senior player Adam McNeil in 2016.

Adam will be assisted by a further four players from the senior section of the Club with Ned Fallon, Sam Clements, Jack Lloyd and Joel Emmins making up the coaching panel. Defined roles will be announced at the start of training in early February.

Adam “Cowboy” McNeil has been a star player for the Rovers for several years now and has featured in two senior Premierships. The 27 year-old first joined the club in 2010 and has played 87 games, including all 18 in 2015 where he regularly featured in the best players. His consistent form led to a call-up to the VAFA Representative Team against Vic Country at Bendigo in July last year.

The Hampton Rovers Football Club is aiming to field two Under 17 teams in 2016, with both teams training together for the duration of pre and regular season, giving all players the opportunity to be coached by each of our appointed coaches.

Both the Senior and Junior sections of the club are thrilled to have these fine men and footballers, taking charge of the U17s this coming year. The entire club has been working hard to establish this coaching framework in recent years and hope this will be the catalyst for the group to continue building on their success from previous years.

Each have excellent leadership skills and their current senior football experience is sure to be a huge benefit for all U17 players in 2016 as they prepare to make the transition to the next level.

We invite all players to come along to “Meet the Coaches Day” on Wednesday 3rd of February 2016 at Boss James Reserve for a BBQ and get-together. All players and potential players are very welcome to attend.

Training will commence on Monday 8th of February, with two sessions weekly until the start of the season in mid-April.

– Monday sessions with the Senior group (location TBC)
– Wednesday sessions U17s (location TBC)

We acknowledge that all boys are busy with school, cricket and other commitments during these training times so we encourage you all to get along to the “Meet the Coaches Day” to show your commitment for the coming season.
