U9 Blue 2016 Season Report

What fantastic team of boys eager to start/continue their football journey.

With an all new coaching staff and nearly half of the team comprising new players (some in their very first year) a strong bond was soon formed between all the boys.

It was almost a “foreign legion” type of team with players hailing from five different Bayside schools, but they all shared the dream of playing footy together.

Our season started well with two up front wins, ensuring we stayed in the division most suited to us. Whilst we lost some games by bigger margins, the boys never dropped their heads or complained and were always gallant in defeat and humble when winning.

Each boy took something away from the season, learning that football is not just about winning; it’s about having a go, backing up your mates and all importantly, having fun.

In the last of our home and away games we tried to get a goal for the players who hadn’t yet scored a goal, some very unselfish teamwork, led to three of those five boys getting their maiden goals.

During the Lightning Carnival, we managed to get the last two boys their goals so everyone had scored at least one goal by season end, a great way to finish of a fantastic year.

The parents on the sidelines made the coaches’ jobs vastly easier, always willing to pitch in and help and their vocal support kept the boys going on even those cold and wet mornings we love so much.
