In light of the Under 16 Division 1 Premiership, the Club has received plenty of media and several positive responses from near and far to the all-inclusive approach from Ash Robert in playing all 30 players on the day. 30 players got to witness the ultimate experience football can offer and all 30 will be wiser for the action shown by great men in Ash Roberts and Lou Folino.
It’s not every day a father of three children gets to witness what Ash did on the 30th August. Earlier, his youngest son Archie won the Under 10 Silver B&F, Archie is proof the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree, I can’t help but think that Ash would have played his footy the same way as Archie – head down and hunt the footy. You see, Ash is a member of Edithvale-Aspendale team of the century, a multi-award winner, loyal as the day is long, a humble considerate man, competitive to the core, who knows football back to front.
Ash never really questioned his decision to take all 30 players into the game, it is his belief that we win together or we lose as one, such is the nature of a great clubman.
Ash’s Eldest son, Oscar Robert, had the last stat of the game and sealed the famous victory. Oscar just happens to be an assistant coach of the Under 10 Silver team, he was present to see Archie win his first B&F. Oscar, like Ash, has a huge appetite for the game. He has a calm influence over the young chargers in U10, the kids idolise him, he has a great football mind for someone so young – humble, quiet, sincere but with actions that can back up any case scenario. Oscar stepped out on the big stage and showed everyone what matters most, back yourself, have total faith & be prepared for the unthinkable, is it any wonder the Roberts live 40 meters from the Northern end goal at Boss James Reserve.
It’s very rare you drive along Bluff Road and you don’t see Oscar, Archie, Dad and little sister Daisy out having a kick.
