It ended up being a great season for us, as what started a season where we could barely get numbers to make a team, to having too many players wanting to play than we were allowed. In the end, this team rallied together and won themselves a premiership, which is a fantastic effort and a day that the boys and I will never forget.
Without the help from everyone this great achievement could not have happened. Throughout the year, each player was committed to playing consistent footy, which was obvious to see, as each under 14 improved massively from last season. Throughout the year, each week their confidence grew and they enjoyed playing their footy more, which allowed them to find their feet in different positions so we could create the most solid team on game day.
I would also like to mention the tremendous efforts from all the under 13s who filled in at various games this season and being crucial for our finals campaign. Without them we wouldn’t field a team, let alone win a grand final. The boys enjoyed playing for us and enjoyed the challenge, and I consider them as much a part of the team than anybody so a special thank you to them and their parents for allowing them to play for us.
I would also like to thank Grant our other coach, we swapped roles throughout the year and he was a great help. Also Paul Warman our runner, Our trainer Lisa McLeod and of course our team manager Lisa Beavan. Without their help we couldn’t have had the success we had this season.
A very enjoyable season and I hope to be back next year to help out again, enjoy the time off and I will see you all soon.
Thanks again,
Ben McKinstry.
