Four Hampton Rovers players have been selected in the Vic Metro squad for the 2015 NAB AFL Under 16 Championships on the Gold Coast next week.
All four played in the 2014 Hampton Rovers Under 15 division 1 premiership side under gun coaches Ash Roberts and Lou Folino. This year, the Rovers Under 16’s sit on top of the ladder in division 1.
The development of the overall squad has been immense over the last three years which has resulted in four players being selected to play at the highest level. Andrew Brayshaw (#10), Lachlan Harris (#1), Alf Jarnestrom (#2) and Sebastian Williams (#3) have worked tirelessly over the past eight months to lock in places in the final 25 to travel to the Gold Coast.
The players were presented with Vic Metro Jumpers on Sunday the 28th June to represent the state at next week’s Under 16 National Carnival on the Gold Coast.
To have four players from one club representing Vic Metro is a testament to all players, parents, coaches and community. It is unheard of to have four players in the State’s best 25 from one club. They are four of nine players picked from the Sandringham Dragons.
Everyone at the Hampton Rovers Football Club is very proud of all four lads and we wish them well over the next two weeks. We hope you all play well and enjoy the experience playing interstate.
The club has eight players currently playing in the AFL and the future looks bright for more Rovers’ to join the elite.
