Former Hampton Rovers junior Angus Brayshaw has received the round 10 NAB AFL Rising Star nomination following an impressive performance against Collingwood.
The emerging midfielder is the second Melbourne player to win the award in as many weeks.
The 19-year-old impressed with an 18-possession performance (15 kicks, three handballs), six tackles and a goal during Monday’s 25-point loss to Collingwood. Among all players eligible for the rising star, he is ranked first in total tackles.
Brayshaw is one of four former Hampton Rovers players at the Demons and one of eight currently playing in the AFL. He played a total of 124 games for the green & gold from 2003, until he progressed to the Sandringham Dragons where he captained the club in the TAC Cup and represented Vic Metro at the 2014 U18 Championships.
Picked up at number 3 by Melbourne at last year’s NAB AFL Draft, Angus has played all 10 games for the club in his first year of AFL footy and has become an integral part of the Demons midfield.
As Angus’ junior club, the Rovers receive a NAB Club Recognition Award valued at $2500, comprising financial and practical resources.
