Hundreds of happy Hamptonites will be out in force this weekend shaking tins and knocking on doors in aid of the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal.
Players, family and friends of the Hampton Rovers Football Club are driving the fundraising project, which raises money for welfare services provided by the Salvos.
Over the past 14 years, the club has raised over $110,000 for the appeal. This year’s doorknock is on May 30 and 31.
Both junior and senior sections of the club will join more than 35,000 volunteers out in force around the country this weekend, doorknocking and collecting at traffic lights.
To volunteer or to donate, phone 13 SALVOS (137 258) or visit www.salvos.org.au
UPDATE 1/6/15: The club is pleased to announce that over $10,000 was raised, taking the total to over $120,000 for the past 15 years. Thanks to Louise Khanabashi who organised the junior teams, Daniel Corp & Matt Oswald who organised the Seniors & U19s, and of course Bill Mirabito who made it all happen. Another great effort by the club!
