U12 North 2014 Season Report

We kicked off the season in early April after a couple of weeks getting to know each other having mixed up the boys from the season prior.

The plan for the season was to be competitive in the division we had been placed, teach the boys some additional skills in the game, create a great team environment were the boys would build new friends as team mates and above all enjoy playing the game each week for the club.

Our first game we lost by a big margin but the boys hadn’t yet worked each other out within the team so better games would come.

By round three we were on the winners board and followed up with another good win in round four.

School mates Harrison Zammitt, Luke Peters, Matthew Needham were playing good footy and have brought to the team fellow school mates Harry Gower and Sam Barty which were great additions.

Team mates from the previous season Archie Jackson, Tom Griffin, Matt Wilson, Ben Crothers, Griff Adams, Kristian Palmos, Joel Scaramozzino, Ben Green, Jordan Nolan and the Reynolds brothers Lachie and Tommy knew each others games well and were gelling well on the field.

Round six saw us lose by just a kick but other team members Max Pinczes, Lachie Carney, Gus Rose, Luka French Medic and Jay Davis all were contributing.

The next five rounds were tough with the boys playing good footy but just couldn’t get a win.

Our new recruit for the last four games Gus Brady gave us a spark as we came home with a wet sail winning the last three games, and Gus topping the goal kicking table for us in just those four games.

There was some great improvements in a lot of the boys games throughout the year and Lachie Reynolds won the best and fairest with Archie Jackson coming runners up.

Ben Crothers picked up the Most Courageous, Gus Rose the Most Improved and Harry Gower the Coaches Award.

Although we only had a 35% win rate for the year and didn’t make the finals there was some great improvement in the boys footy and some new friendships made.

The team was supported greatly by the parents each week and especially Mel Carney (Team Manager), Shaune Jackson (Assistant Coach) Adrian Carney (Runner) and the dads that helped out at training nights, special mention to Phil Crothers, Mark Wilson and Patrick Saramozzino.

I hope to see all the boys return to the club next season and their development continues and look forward to supporting them in their ongoing growth in the game.
