Hampton Rovers are the very appreciative recipients of a $3,000 Vic Health – Active Club Grant.
The monies will purchase 20 First Aid Kits for our Junior Teams and Auskickers and will be available for our critical Team Trainers prior to Round one (April 6).
The timing is perfect as Hampton Rovers have a big push to support our many volunteers. A Community Club like Hampton Rovers is absolutely reliant on the significant hours our many, many volunteers contribute toward the running of the Club. With construction of the Medical Room at Boss James and Team Managers desks at both Boss James and Castlefield near completion. The provision of brand new First Aid kits complements efforts perfectly.
Active Club Grants
For 25 years, VicHealth has provided small grants to more than 9700 community sport and active recreation clubs/organisations across Victoria. Our investment has benefited more than 1 million club members across the state by helping community sport address barriers to regular physical activity. The Active Club Grants recognise the important role local clubs/organisations play in increasing physical activity and helping communities stay connected.
In 2013–14, the Active Club Grants will provide funding of up to $3000 (excl. GST) to purchase:
• sports injury prevention and management equipment; and
• essential sporting equipment/items.
Priority will be given to applications from clubs/organisations who can demonstrate that cost is likely to be a significant barrier to sport and active recreation due to relative socioeconomic disadvantage1 and/or are committed to reducing injuries which prevent people from leading a more active lifestyle.
This program complements and builds upon the Victorian Government’s health promotion work via the Victorian Public Health & Wellbeing Plan, Healthy Together Victoria and the Sports Injury Prevention Taskforce Final Report.
