Following a busy pre season it was decided wisely that 30 players did not make two U13 sides so unfortunately we had to close off the list at 26 players as only 25 can play on game day. A few went back to U12s (as they still qualified) whilst others went up to U14s Div 1 and 3. It was not ideal as all of the other teams were graded teams having more than one team which meant we had to be at our very best to be competitive. To our boys credit we did just that and beat some of the higher placed teams and were in contention for finals right up until the last 2 rounds. Moulding what was two U12s teams last year into one fighting unit was the highlight for me as coach. I had to get to know another group of young men and their parents. I have to say the way everybody pitched in to help out was fantastic. I particularly want to thank Andrew McLorinan (Team Manager), John Mair (Assistant Coach R1-6) and Neil McMaster (Assistant Coach R7-14). John & Neil ran the majority of mid week training in my absence and I thank you for stepping up in this area. Finally the friendships the players, officials and parents made throughout the year was the overwhelming positive from the season. What a great group of people. Thank you for your friendship and support throughout the season. Next season (U14s) we have a dream team coaching panel including Neil McMaster (Coach), Tim Branson (Assistant Coach) and the return of Pete Jolly (Team Manger). I look forward to 2014 and hope you all can join us once again at the Rovers.
