Silver’s started the year with the prospect of 18 players and by Round 5 we had 24 in the side with many new kids all eager to play with their mates.  We started our grading matches well with 2 wins, a draw and then wins and losses scattered throughout the season.

The kid’s determination to train hard, play well and most of all have fun saw the team transform from half a handful of players dominating in those very first rounds, to a team playing really well and evenly together.  We had so many players playing the best games late in the season testimony to their effort and fun at training and on game day.

Our boys were well deserved premiers in the Lightening Cup with a great across the board performance from all players to notch up 3 straight wins and the flag.

To the Players

It was great to hear the stories of your triumphs during the season, the enthusiasm of which you retold your favourite moments in the games.  To see new friendships form and the smile on your faces was fantastic.  We wish you all the very best for next year and hope to see EVERYONE back at the Rovers next year and hopefully a few extra friends as well.

To our Parents

Thank you for a wonderful season.  You were really supportive of the kids, the coaches and the support staff.  It was great getting to know you all.

Off the field

It was wonderful for the kids and parents to all enjoy and development friendships this year. We did a range of things from BBQ after training, Bogan Bingo, Sunday at the Rovers, The Friday night drinks…. it was all good fun for the adults too.

The kids to be involved in all the activities through the season and to see them mix more when they see each other at non-football events has been great community spirit arising out of football.

The Coaching Staff

Thank to my assistant coach Sam Travers.  It really made being 1st year coach much easier but far more enjoyable.  I am certain the kids are better for the experience of having co-coaches.

It was a privilege to be asked by the Rovers to coach and thanks to those that convinced me it was a truly great experience!
The Support Staff
Thanks to Ash Robert our runner each week.  As a previous football legend and team of the century winner himself it was great to have his experience and knowledge around for the benefit of the boys each week.
Thanks to our Team Manager, Casey.  She definitely did more work than the coaches during the season.  The amount of effort organising and preparing through the whole season was very much appreciated.
To the mothers and fathers that helped out in the range of roles during the year and instrumental in creating a great experience for the boys.
To the Dads that made themselves available to come down to training and help out week was much appreciated.

Finally….

Thanks to the boys.  You made the year what it was!  Your enthusiasm and effort was contagious and you all made the year extremely fun for everyone.  CONGRATLATIONS on the Lightening Cup!!
