Its with great sadness that the club advises two of our life members passed away over the weekend Jan McGregor and Peter Streat.
Both had been involved with the club in multiple roles over many years and were still current members, attending when they could. Both Jan and Peter will be sorely missed at Boss James Reserve.
Jan was instrumental in the beginning of the junior set-up at the club, being the first junior secretary and holding that position for five years until 1990, before becoming senior secretary. She was awarded best club person in 1988 and continued to be involved at the club. Jan regularly helped cook meals for the players on a Thursday night and up until recently was regularly in attendance both on a Thursday evening and match day.
Like Jan, Peter Streat, or Harry as he was commonly referred to, was also a life member of the club and was a regular at Boss James Reserve. He was senior president of the club for three years in the early 1970’s and a long-time platinum coterie member and despite his health problems, would continue to make an effort to get along and support the Rovers and keep up-to-date with the scores and news.
Peters funeral will be held Thursday 21st March, 11:30am at Kingston Chapel, 305 Warrigal Rd, Cheltenham. Drinks will be held following the service at the Hampton Rovers Football Club from around 12:30pm.
Jans funeral will be held Friday 22nd March, 1:30pm at St Leonards Church, Cnr New Street & Wolseley Grove in Brighton. Following this, drinks will be held at the Hampton Rovers Football Club from 3pm until 5:30pm.
