2009 Under 12 South Season Report

2009 was a great season for under 12 South. At the start of the season we had a change in coach and with hardly any training or preparation we faced our first game.Even though we only had 17 players against Sandringham’s 23 we emerged victorious in our first game.

The lack of players available continued to haunt us throughout the season and many times we had to beg, borrow and steal players so we could field a team. The upside to this was that there were no complaints about having spent too much time on the bench.Later in the season we lost a couple of our better players who spend the winter living up at the snow.

The boys went on to record 6 wins and 7 losses for the season and just miss out on the finals but a few extra players would have made all the difference as most of the boys were pretty worn out by the latter part of the season.

The focus for the year was look after one another at all times and to build a team spirit amongst the boys. This became very evident at the last game which we lost but the boys all stood in a circle,,linked arms and sang the Rovers song.

As always there are many people to thank and first and foremost is our manager Michael Schuh who did a fantastic job dealing out tasks to all the parents and making my job as coach much easier. To all the parents who assisted whether it was timekeeping, running the boundary, doing the first aid ,running for me or any other task that was asked of them, I thank you all very much as the more people who help out the easier it becomes for our kids to enjoy themselves.
