Rovers win 3 junior Premierships

Participation, fun and learning underpin the philosophy of the juniors at Hampton Rovers. It is most definitely not all about winning premierships and making sure our teams are in competitive divisions is a key priority. Having 8 out of 9 teams making it to finals, 5 teams to Grand Finals and so far three premierships on the weekend is testament that we may have got it right this year.

An absolutely outstanding performance on Sunday, saw Hampton Rovers win 3 out of 4 premierships. There was one close result, Under 11 West winning by 4 points, with the Under 12 South and the Under 13 East’s recording solid victories.

In addition to being part of a winning team these kids were also voted best on ground in their respective Grand Finals (as voted by the match umpires):

Under 11 West – Lachlan
McPherson

Under 12 South – Martin Ho

Under 13 East – Calum McLeod

Sadly for our U12 East team, they could not make it a quadrella of wins and were beaten by a better team on the day. They battled hard all day but could not bridge the gap against a strong Oakleigh.

Unfortunately for the Under 15’s they will not be playing off for the premiership as they were beaten in a spirited effort in their Preliminary final. Well done to all the boys and we look forward to seeing them develop even further next season.

It was great to see such a large crowd gathered back at the Boss James Reserve club rooms to celebrate the year that was. The players of each of the teams were proudly presented to the crowd and a sense of achievement filled the rooms.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED IN 2008
