The Hampton Rovers Football Club recently hosted two Tackle Your Feelings (TYF) workshops, with more than 60 players, coaches and club volunteers taking part across dedicated men’s and women’s sessions.
Tackle Your Feelings is a mental health training program designed for players, community AFL coaches, committee members and other club support staff. The program was established in 2018 by the AFL Coaches Association, AFL Players’ Association and Zurich Insurance following the tragic passing of Adelaide coach Phil Walsh.
Delivered by a local psychologist, the workshops provide participants with practical skills to better understand, recognise and respond to signs of mental ill-health, both within themselves and those around them.
Based on the mental health education delivered throughout the AFL industry, Tackle Your Feelings is supported by high-profile AFL player and coach ambassadors and aims to create stronger, more supportive sporting communities.
The Hampton Rovers are proud to once again support this important initiative and thank everyone who attended and engaged in the sessions. Looking after the wellbeing of our players, coaches, volunteers and members remains a key priority for our club, both on and off the field.
Hampton Rovers registered players and coaches can access the VAFA Player Assistance Program – up to three free sessions with a psych (Online, F2F, Call or Chatbox). Find out more here.
