The Hampton Rovers kick off their 2026 campaign on Saturday with a big Round 1 clash for the Senior Men against Old Peninsula away at Harry MacDonald Oval, while the Senior Women and U19s open their campaigns at home.
The seniors will face a strong early test, taking on the reigning Division 1 premiers on their home deck as Old Peninsula unfurl their first ever senior premiership flag. It shapes as a great occasion and a perfect opportunity for the Rovers to make an early statement in Premier C.
There is plenty of anticipation around the group, with a fresh-looking side set to take the field in the first game under new senior coach Paul Carrigan. Two players will make their senior debuts and there are changes aplenty from last years side, adding to the sense of excitement as the club begins a new chapter in 2026.
The senior match gets underway at 2:00pm, with the reserves to play earlier at 11:40am, both at Harry MacDonald Oval at The Peninsula School in Mt Eliza. Live scores are available via PlayHQ and follow the Rovers on Instagram for updates.
It’s a full day of action across the club, with the Under 19s hosting Williamstown CYMS at Boss James Reserve at 10:30am and the Senior Women taking on Beaumaris at Castlefield Reserve at 1:00pm. The Thirds face Ormond at EE Gunn Reserve in a twilight match commencing at 4:45pm.
Following the games, all players and supporters are invited back to Boss James Reserve from 6:30pm onwards, with the bar open and footy on the screens to celebrate the start of the season.
With a new season underway and plenty to look forward to, it’s the perfect time to get behind the Rovers! Show your support by purchasing a 2026 Club Membership.
