Seniors

Round 7 Results

It was another disappointing day of results on Saturday for the Rovers, with the Seniors unable to break their duck as they hosted Old Melburnians at Boss James Reserve, while the Women fell short in the Grand Final rematch.

It was a quieter home game lunch inside the Wright-Scarlett Pavilion but still a decent turnout as we recognised National Volunteer Week. See below for a quick wrap and scores from round seven.

The strong wind favoured Old Melburnians, down from A Grade this year, in the first term as they jumped to a four goal lead at the first break, kicking five goals to one. While the Rovers had a three goal to zero second term to reduce the margin to 13 points, the visitors had a stronger second half to run out 42-point victors.

Hoping to see some more positive results in next weekend, with the Senior Women (4th) taking on bottom-placed Parkdale Vultures (stay tuned for fixture details as it may change). The Under 19’s are also a chance as they play middle of the ladder Ormond this week having just played the top two sides in U19 Division 2 after being regraded down from Premier. Should be much more competitive in this game as the young Rovers look for their first win of the season.

It’s a tough task for the Seniors, up against the highly-fancied Old Ivanhoe outfit out at Chelsworth Park, and the Thirds/Development team against top-placed Marcellin at Bulleen Park. Let’s hope for some upsets here!

A big thank-you to the 23 Hampton Rovers senior men’s and women’s players who volunteered on Sunday, rattling tins for the Salvo’s Red Shield Appeal on the corner of South Road and Bluff Road. A total of $3,344.95 was raised for the less fortunate, with big Tom Ellinghaus taking out top spot for funds raised! The Club is proud to support a number of community organisations, including the Salvation Army.

A reminder that following the Kings Birthday Bye Weekend, it’s Past Players Day at Boss James Reserve which will be one of the biggest Home Game Luncheons of 2025. This is one not to be missed, so book your seat now!

And if you’re yet to do so, please consider supporting the club by purchasing a 2025 Club Membership. We’ve now surpassed 100 members signed up, but still working towards our target of 150. You can sign up online by clicking the link below.
