The Rovers are excited to announce a coaching transition for the Senior Women’s team, which will see Alana Graham promoted to co-head coach for the 2025 season, before taking control in 2026.
Brent Ward has been an outstanding asset to the club since joining from Beaumaris in November 2021, coaching the team to the Premiership in his first season, earning promotion to Division 1, and a Grand Final appearance in Division 2 this year.
Brent will continue as co-head coach alongside Alana for the upcoming 2025 season, which promises to be another exciting year, following the re-commitment of a string of key players.
“Alana has been a champion footballer, leader, coach and friend and is loved by our whole team,” Brent said.
“I’m just so excited for next season and for Alana’s future. Our club is in the best possible care with Alana taking over as coach of our Senior Women’s team”.
For the first time in 2025, the Hampton Rovers will have an U18s top age and bottom age combined, with the club planning on continuing the strong integration with the junior girls program, while 2026 will see Rovers U18s graduate to senior football in the VAFA. Next season’s U18s will be coached by senior women’s star player Tayla Jones.
Alana will make history by becoming the first female to coach a senior Hampton Rovers women’s team.
“I’m beyond excited to step into the role of Co-Head Coach for the Hampton Rovers Senior Women in 2025,” Alana said.
“The key to success is a strong culture and that’s exactly what we have here at the Rovers—an unbreakable bond, a commitment to each other, and I’m honoured to be part of this group. Together, we’ll build on our strengths and push each other to be the best version of ourselves.”
“I’m excited to take on this role with Wardy. Our partnership is built on trust, respect, and a shared vision for player happiness. Together, we’ll bring out the best in each other and in the team. It’s going to be a positive and collaborative journey together.”
“Jenko and Bus are the perfect fit as assistant coaches. Their passion, knowledge, and commitment to the team are unmatched. Bus brings incredible tactical insight, while Jenko’s ability to motivate and connect with players is inspiring. They’ll play a huge role in helping us reach our goals and making sure the team is supported both on and off the field.”
Training for the 2025 season will commence in late January, while Christmas drinks and BBQ will be held on December 19 at Boss James Reserve.
The club welcomes all new players in 2025 as the Hampton Rovers women’s football program continues to go from strength to strength.
