The 2022 VAFA season is here, with Hampton Rovers hosting Marcellin at Boss James Reserve on Saturday. It’s also the first Home Game Luncheon of the year, with bookings now being taken.
The pre-season campaign is officially done, with good practice match victories over Oakleigh and Parkdale Vultures, while the season was officially launched at Hotel Brighton on Sunday.
After two interrupted years, we’re on the eve of what we hope will be full season, and it’ll be a longer one than usual – 20 games over a 22-round season due to 11 teams in Premier C in 2022. First up, it’s Mazenod – a team the Rovers didn’t meet last year due to Covid.
Bookings are now being taken for the opening Home Game Luncheon of the 2022 season. For those new to the club or new to the seniors, a Luncheon is held prior to every senior home game inside the Wright-Scarlett Pavilion at Boss James Reserve.
Our highly-regarded caterers put on a superb roast lunch with plenty of sides, and cheese & biscuits to finish. You can purchase a 2022 club membership to gain entry, or pay $30, with drinks available at bar prices. Meet other supporters and parents, hear from the President and other guest speakers. It’s 12 midday for a 12:30pm start, with the bar open until half time of the seniors (approx. 3:15pm). Everyone welcome!
As most of you would be aware, we lost a club legend over the break and over lunch we’ll be spending a bit of time reminiscing over Don Scarlett’s finest moments. His funeral at the Club a couple of weeks ago was attended by almost 400 people and it was a celebration of a life well lived. We will all miss him. Come along and be part of an exciting start to 2022.
We also welcome everyone to the club Thursday evening for our first senior selection night of the year. Training starts at 6pm with the bar open and dinner served at around 7:30pm. Hear the five senior teams for Saturday.
Bring on the 2022 season. Go Rovers!
