ANZAC Match & Luncheon as Rovers host Monash

A big day at Boss James Reserve this Saturday for a top-two clash as we honour the fallen ahead of ANZAC Day. Book now for the Home Game Luncheon and get along for what is always a special day.

Hampton Rovers hosts Monash Blues in the round 3 clash with both sides undefeated and looking to continue their unbeaten start to the 2021 VAFA Premier C season. Monash, having come down from Premier B, have started their season well and will be the toughest test yet for the Rovers, who’ve recorded convincing victories over Old Ivanhoe and UHS-VU. A couple of changes to the Hampton team, setting up what should be a great contest.

It’s always a big day at the club and this Saturday will be no different as we honour those who served the country. Prior to the main game, an on-ground ANZAC ceremony will take place, featuring the Ode of Remembrance, Last Post and National Anthem. The ceremony will commence at 2pm with the match beginning at 2:15pm.

Special guest speaker at Saturday’s Home Game Luncheon will be Jacqueline Pascarl – an Australian author, parents’ rights advocate and humanitarian aid worker. Also in attendance will be James Newbury MP, who’ll toss the coin prior to the seniors game.

The cost is just $30 per head for the best feed in the Ammo’s – or included in your 2021 Club Membership (click here to sign up if you haven’t already). Drinks are available at bar prices, open from midday until half time of the senior game. Please remember that no drinks from the bar are permitted outside of the pavilion at any time.

Seats for the luncheon must be pre-booked – do it online here or get in touch with Gary Nash directly. We welcome everyone to get along for what is always a special occasion – and a special invitation to all ex-service people.

The Reserves game against Monash Blues commences at 11:40am, while earlier in the day, the Senior Women are also at home, taking on Power House down the road at Castlefield Reserve, commencing at 9:20am. We encourage supporters to get along there first and cheer on the girls.

Elsewhere, the Thirds face Chadstone at Jordan Reserve at 9:20am and the Under 19s take on Marcellin away at Marcellin College, Bulleen, at 2pm, looking for their second win of the season. We encourage all thirds and women’s players to get back to the Boss by 2pm for the ANZAC ceremony and senior game, as well as all Rovers supporters and wider Hampton community. Check out the new & improved Rovers Canteen offering a much wider selection of food and beverage options in 2021. There will also be barista coffee available for purchase from inside the social rooms.

Live scores of the senior game are available online here, while we’ll have updates on the club’s Twitter and Instagram account.
