President’s Update – July 23

On behalf of our mighty club, I would like to thank all of our sponsors and members for your incredible support during these unprecedented times.

We worked tirelessly on and off the field to prepare for 2020, but it was inevitable in the end as this virus got out of control, that we could not proceed.

The amount of extra work undertaken by our volunteers and coaches was amazing and I greatly appreciate everyone’s committed efforts.

Please all keep safe, sit tight as we are already planning 2021 and we will hit the ground running!

Thank you to our 2020 club members – we’ve just ticked over the half-century mark, which is incredible support given the lack of a footy season. Since my last update, we’ve had Don Scarlett, Belinda Bacon, Chris Perkins, Michael Malone, Jenny Voss, Gary & Teresa Hetherington, Steve Guy and Margaret Amoore all jump on board. View the full list or buy a membership here.

When restrictions have eased and it’s safe to do so, the club will host a lunch or dinner with our magnificent caterers to thank our members for their support this year.

I would like to announce that we have re-appointed our coaching panel for the 2021 season, with the exception of our under 19s coach Sam Care, who has decided to hang up his clipboard.

Senior Coach: Anthony Quon
Senior Assistant: Peter O’Dea
Assistant: John Cesario
Reserves Coach: Sam Clements
Senior Women’s Coach: Corey Randal
Strength & Conditioning: Nathan Bonney

We thank Sam Care for his contribution and the 2019 premiership will forever stay in all of our memories……well done Sam.

The Roverland Podcast has been fantastic, and you can listen to the past 8 episodes on our website or your podcast app. More episodes are coming in the near future. And keep an eye out for a replay of the 1995 Grand Final between the Rovers and Thomastown which will air in the coming weeks.

Once again, a big thank you to all our Roverians members, your financial support over the years has been of enormous benefit to our club, however this year’s assistance in such trying times is magnificent.
