Rovers take flight to PEGS

Hampton Rovers make the long trek to Keilor to face bottom-side PEGS in what shapes as a must-win game in the context of the season.

The Seniors will be keen to get the win and even up their season at 5-5, following last week’s draw with Old Ivanhoe at Boss James Reserve, while the Reserves will be looking to rebound after losing last week.

A few changes to the side and it’s great to see Danny Corp back in action after trip overseas.

The PEGS Playing Fields are located in Keilor Park, literally under the Melbourne Airport flightpath – entry is via Wright Road – view map.

Seniors kick-off at 2:00pm with the Reserves at 11:40am. Get live scores on the Rovers website and follow @hamptonrovers on social media for updates.

Elsewhere, U19s take on South Melbourne at Lindsay Hassett Oval, Albert Oval, commencing at 1:20pm. The Senior Women are at Ted Ajani Reserve against Bulleen Templestowe at 9:20am. While at Castlefield Reserve, the Thirds take on Kew at 12:30pm – but are short on numbers so if you’re able to help out and play, please get in touch with Andrew McGregor.

All Rovers players will wear black armbands on Saturday, in honour of David Martyn, who sadly passed away earlier in the week. David was a long-term supporter of the club, always there supporting his sons, with Benn a two-time premiership player in 1998/2001 and Guy a two-time premiership coach in 2013/14, also playing in the 2014 flag.

A memorial for David Alan Martyn will be held at the Hampton RSL, 25 Hollyrood St Hampton, this Sunday from 2pm.
