Under 19

U19s go down to T’s in final game

The Rovers U19s played their last game of the season on Saturday against Old Trinity who were third on the section three ladder.

We started the first quarter extremely well.  In the middle Benji, Jack, Max , Joel , Wooly and Sammie drove the ball into the forward line on numerous occasion but at the end of the first quarter the scores were 1-1-7 to 4-0-24

In the second, the defence held up really well to keep them to 2.0 to our 1-3-9.  The boys in defence defended well and when we had the ball they spread and gave us options to get out of trouble, great work by Robbo, Sam T, Cooper, Nick,  Butters and Tom S.

A special mention goes to Darcy and Tom W both given a role to do and they performed them well by stopping numerous forward entries by the opposition.  Half time 2-4-16 to 6-0-36

The second half was pretty much the same as the first half. Our forwards gave it their all and we saw some exciting play by Luke,Daniel, Harry, Callum (2 goals) and Tom M (1 goal).

Blake and Oscar were used at both ends of the ground and performed well with some telling marks and runs.

We almost saw Sam Taylor take mark of the year today when he leapt above the pack and almost held the ball all the way to the ground but it spilled just as he hit the ground.

Final score 4-6-30 lost to Old Trinity 12-5-77

Finally thank you to all the players who played this year it has been a pleasure and also to all the volunteers who helped out throughout the year.
