Thirds defeat UHSVU at the Boss

The Rovers Thirds recorded a great win against UHSVU at Boss James Reserve on Saturday. We had 12 to pick from for eight positions on the interchange with a big thanks to the four who missed out today, Thomo who goal umpired, Daniel Ebbott for boundary umpiring, Chris Smith for running water, Jess for Team Managing and Tom Ox for his support on the bench. It was great to see everyone put their hand up and volunteering.  Also, a big thanks to Stan for timekeeping and doing the scoreboard.

We started the game really well by being first to the ball and creating good opportunities for the smaller players to run, crumb the packs and score goals.

Half time saw us four goals to just a few points with the boys in the backline doing a great job often beating their opponents two on one. The backline also continued to put enormous pressure on them all day forcing them to kick 11 points.

The one-percenters were good with plenty of talking, tackling and shepherds by the boys.

Great to see some of the old stagers in the best with skipper Adam Power in about game 290, Ben Clarke down from the Ressies for the week, Sam “Cougs” Cougan and Matty Innes all featuring.

The Rovers are now 2-1 after three rounds and sit fifth on the ladder. Next week, the boys take on North Brunswick away in an early game.
