Vale Peter Saunders

Peter Saunders became involved with Hampton Rovers in the 1990’s, attended regular club functions and was very generous with his sponsorship of the club.

He attended the Domino Luncheon from its foundation in 1997 through to about 2013 when he became ill. His generosity was evident at these events purchasing several major auction items, of which organiser Don Scarlett estimates this totalled upwards of $20,000. He also made a lot of other donations to the club without fanfare, as was very much his style.

In 1995 for example, when the club won its first senior flag in 44 years, he threw in $1000 for the players to have a drink, this is the type of spontaneous things he did.

Peter loved a good time, enjoyed making a speech or two after a few cool drinks, but he really enjoyed being with his various mates at our club.

His great sense of humour and generosity will always be remembered.

He was a Hampton lad and lived very close to the Boss James ground as a kid.

Peter lost his long battle with cancer last week, he will be sadly missed.
