The club is pleased to announce Paul Curry as the new Senior Women’s head coach for the 2018 VAFA season.
Paul is well suited to the role and has been involved at the Hampton Rovers Football Club over many years. A life member of the club, Paul has held various positions across the juniors and seniors including coach of the Under 19s for two seasons and the Reserves for three years, most recently in 2010. More recently, he was team manager of De La Salle in VAFA Premier.
As announced recently, the Rovers will field two Women’s teams in the VAFA in 2018 following a successful inaugural year in which the club had 50 registered players and made the finals. Paul will mentor the coach of the second Women’s team – which has yet to be appointed, with the club still accepting applications. To apply for the role, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The club is also on the lookout for match-day helpers for both teams.
The club decided the role of women’s coach now required someone who could fully commit without playing duties getting in the way. As a result, Ned Fallon, who did a fantastic job leading the Rovers Women’s team in 2017, has decided to focus on playing next year. The club thanks Ned for his contribution in coaching the historic first women’s team.
Pre-Season training got underway during the week and it continues each Tuesday and Thursday 6:30pm at Mentone Girls Secondary College.
Tuesdays have been programmed for a combo of fitness, skills and strength training. Thursdays will be run by special guest, former Western Bulldogs AFLW player and now Essendon VFLW assistant coach Lauren Morecroft. BYO water bottles and runners to sessions (no boots).
The club invites all new players to the club and of course returning players from 2017 as we double our Women’s Football program in 2018!
