Hampton Rovers host their first home game of the season on Saturday, taking on Old Mentonians at Boss James Reserve to recognise ANZAC Day.
It’s set to be a big day with a triple-header and the traditional Anzac Day Luncheon. The senior team will wear specially designed ANZAC Day jumpers and the ANZAC Day ceremony featuring The Ode and Last Post will take place prior to the start of the main game, in conjunction with the Hampton RSL.
Book your spot now for the pre-game Luncheon. The cost is just $30 per head and includes a main course with drinks available at bar prices. Bookings can be made online here or by contacting Gary Nash on firstname.lastname@example.org or 0407 313 054. You can also purchase a club membership online or on the day which includes a ticket to the lunch (please note: you must still book your spot).
The Rovers kicked-off their 2017 campaign two weeks ago with a 75-point win over Kew away from home and are looking forward to a big test against a strong Old Mentonians side who were runners-up in division one last year. The Rovers have no injury concerns from the opening round and are looking forward to the first home game of the year.
The Seniors kick-off at 2pm with the Reserves at 11:40am. Prior to that, the Under 19 (1) side coached by John Cesario hosts Old Brighton commencing at 9:20am. The Under 19 (2) side coached by Sam Care is also playing at home, but they’re at Castlefield Reserve, taking on La Trobe University at 11:40am.
The Senior Women’s side comes up against a strong St Mary’s Salesian side on Friday night, 7pm at Sportscover Arena (Elsternwick Park). The girls will be looking for a strong performance after going down to Ormond in the first ever VAFAW match a fortnight ago.
Following the matches on Saturday, we welcome everyone back inside the Wright-Scarlett Pavilion where the bar will be open until late.
Don’t forget to follow the Rovers on social media to stay up to date and visit the Rovers website for live scores of all senior matches.
