Over 150 people were in attendance at the major whole-club function of 2016 last Saturday evening at Boss James Reserve with an outstanding result on the fundraising achieved.
The club is delighted to announce around $17,000 was raised at the function. This is an amazing result and credit to everyone involved.
The room looked a treat and it was filled to capacity with good representation from both the junior and senior sections of the club – it was great to see so many parents, supporters and senior players come together to support the event.
We had some 70 auction items up for grabs, with some of the more sought after items including golf at Royal Melbourne with former Rovers players Angus Brayshaw & Chris Dawes, a Coonara Heater worth $3,500, Milwaukee cordless power tools, signed merchandise, accommodation, and so much more!
The club sincerely thanks everyone who donated items for the night – without you, we couldn’t have achieved such an outstanding result. Click here to view the auction item list and please support those who supported the night.
Mark Earle from major club sponsor Buxton Sandringham was on hand to do the live auction items and did a superb job, while MC Matthew Gray was outstanding all night in sometimes trying circumstances with an enthusiastic crowd on hand.
The auction night was shaken up with a number of activities throughout the evening including trivia and a few other games. Music followed the formalities with many sticking around and showing off their best dance moves well into the night.
The function was in line with the new #OneRovers undertaking which is seeing the junior and senior sections of the club work closer together to create the best outcomes for the club as a whole. More will be said about this over the coming months.
The night got underway with an introduction from junior vice-president Jason Nicholl and senior president Steve Anderson and was followed by Matt Lawrence from Happy Brands talking about the recently launched Hampton Professional Community – an initiative that will pave the way for a stronger Hampton Rovers Football Club both on and off the field over the coming years.
On behalf of both the senior and junior committees, the club thanks everyone who supported the night – those who attended, donated items and helped make the night happen. In particular, Steve Kennedy who really drove the night. He was well supported by Steve Anderson, Jason & Emma Nicholl, Deb Hopkins, Annie Westhead, Cameron Voss, Rick Jones and others.
It really was one of the best club functions in recent history and the bar has been set for future functions. Exciting times ahead for the Rovers!
