Hampton Rovers make the short trip to Brighton Beach Oval on Saturday to face local rivals Old Brighton for Bayside supremacy.
Following the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, the boys are fresh and ready to get back to it. Forgetting the Old Scotch game, the Rovers have shown improvement in recent rounds, pushing top sides and notching the first win of the season.
Last time the two teams met, it was Old Brighton finishing stronger and recording a 21-point win at Boss James Reserves, but the Rovers side has improved since that round three fixture. With Sandringahm Zebras having the bye, the Rovers are set to have a couple of inclusions.
The two sides will play for the Browne Family Cup – named after Anthony and Bill – who’ve been great contributors at their respective club’s. This time, the Rovers hope to take the cup back to the Boss. The Rovers remain bottom of the ladder with Old Brighton just the one win ahead.
Get along and show your support as the Rovers give it their all and look to get the second half of the 2016 VAFA Premier B season off to the best possible start. The Seniors kick-off at 2:00pm with the Reserves at 11:40am.
You can get Live Scores of the seniors and all VAFA games via the Rovers website and mobile site. And don’t forget to follow the Rovers on our social media channels to stay up-to-date with all the action: Facebook (fb.com/hamptonrovers, Twitter (@HRAFC) and Instagram (hamptonrovers).
The Under 19s are at Boss James Reserve, against Marcellin, commencing at 2:00pm. Both teams are on equal points and with some players dropping back from the seniors, a full side will take the park.
