Stand Up Events

The round 3 Hampton Rovers v Old Brighton match at Boss James Reserve supported Stand Up Events which has been formed to raise awareness of gender equality in sport.

Founder of Stand Up Events, Angie Greene, spoke at the sold-out Luncheon on the day and also to the players the Thursday prior. Players from both sides also wore special socks to raise awareness.

Ambassadors of Stand Up Events include Chris Judd, Matt Spangher, Jobe Watson, Jarryn Geary and many others.

Stand Up Events is organising MOVE IN MAY – a fun run & walk in support of IDAHOT and includes a post-event celebration where everyone is welcome – regardless of sexuality or gender. The event is being held on Sunday 22 May 2016 at The Tan Running Track. You can register online at www.standupevents.com.au

ABOUT STAND UP EVENTS

Stand Up Events was founded by Angie Greene in response to the inequality that she believes currently exists within Australia’s sporting culture. Angie was born into a successful sporting family that includes a Grand Slam tennis champion (grandfather Frank Sedgman), Hawthorn Football Club Hall of Fame member Russell Greene and past Hawthorn player Steven Greene. Having been exposed to elite sporting culture from an early age, Angie, as she matured, saw that members of the LGBTIQ community were disproportionately under-represented in all levels of sport; she created Stand Up to address this issue.
